K–10Mathematics K–10 Syllabus
Mathematics for K−2
The new syllabus must now be taught in Kindergarten to Year 2 in all NSW primary schools.
Mathematics for 3−10
The new syllabus is to be taught in Years 3 to 10 from 2024.
2024 – Start teaching the new syllabus
School sectors are responsible for implementing syllabuses and are best placed to provide schools with specific guidance and information on implementation given their understanding of their individual contexts.

graphs and interprets linear relationships using the gradient/slope-intercept form
Interpret the coefficient of () as the gradient/slope, and the constant () as the -intercept for equations of the form
Find the equation of a straight line in the form , given the gradient/slope and the -intercept of the line
Graph equations of the form by using the gradient and the -intercept
Determine the gradient and -intercept of a straight line from its graph and apply these values to determine the equation of the line
Explain the effect of increasing or decreasing the gradient with or without digital tools
Recognise and describe linear relationships in real-life contexts
Explain that 2 straight lines are perpendicular if the product of their gradients is −1
Find the equation of a straight line that is parallel or perpendicular to another given line by applying
