K–10Mathematics K–10 Syllabus
The new Mathematics K–10 Syllabus (2022) is to be implemented from 2024 and replaces the Mathematics K–10 Syllabus (2012).
School sectors are responsible for implementing syllabuses and are best placed to provide schools with specific guidance and information on implementation given their understanding of their individual contexts.
Content
Stage 5
- MAO-WM-01
develops understanding and fluency in mathematics through exploring and connecting mathematical concepts, choosing and applying mathematical techniques to solve problems, and communicating their thinking and reasoning coherently and clearly
- MA5-GEO-C-01
identifies and applies the properties of similar figures and scale drawings to solve problems
Describe similar figures as having the same Loading but not necessarily the same size
Verify and explain that in similar Loading , the Loading are equal and the corresponding Loading Loading are in the same proportion
Name the vertices in matching order when using the similar symbol ( in a similarity statement
Match the corresponding sides and Loading of similar polygons
Apply an appropriate scale to enlarge or reduce a diagram
Determine the scale factor for pairs of similar polygons and Loading
Apply knowledge of scale factor to find unknown sides in similar polygons
Solve problems involving unknown lengths and scale factors of similar figures and related practical problems
Solve problems involving scale drawings, with or without digital tools
