Counting
  • MAO-WM-01

    develops understanding and fluency in mathematics through exploring and connecting mathematical concepts, choosing and applying mathematical techniques to solve problems, and communicating their thinking and reasoning coherently and clearly

  • MALS-COU-01

    counts in everyday contexts

Life Skills for Stage 4/5

Through collaborative curriculum planning, it may be decided that Life Skills outcomes and content are the most appropriate option for some students with intellectual disability.

Counting
Use a variety of counting strategies
  • Count forwards and backwards from a given number

  • Count with 1:1 correspondence

  • Apply cardinality to demonstrate that the last number spoken in a counting sequence names the quantity for that set

  • Apply counting skills to single-digit, 2-digit and 3-digit numbers

  • Count by twos, fives, tens and hundreds

  • Count forwards and backwards from zero

  • Solve problems involving counting
