The new Science 7–10 Syllabus (2023) is to be implemented from 2026.

2026 – Start teaching new syllabus
School sectors are responsible for implementing syllabuses and are best placed to provide schools with specific guidance and information on implementation given their understanding of their individual contexts.
Content
Life Skills
Through collaborative curriculum planning, it may be decided that Life Skills outcomes and content are the most appropriate option for some students with intellectual disability.
Working scientifically
In this focus area, students develop skills in making observations, using scientific tools and instruments safely, participating in scientific investigations, and recording data and information. Additional Working scientifically outcomes and skills may be integrated with this content.

Describe the motion of the Earth around the Sun
Identify that the Earth rotates on its axis every 24 hours, causing day and night
Engage with Aboriginal Communities to learn about how astronomical observations are made by Aboriginal Peoples
Describe how Aboriginal Peoples developed Knowledge of the Solar System
Explore cyclic seasonal changes used by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples
Use scientific tools to improve observations of surroundings
Identify how data is displayed in everyday contexts
