School sectors are responsible for implementing syllabuses and are best placed to provide schools with specific guidance and information on implementation given their understanding of their individual contexts.

Life Skills
Through collaborative curriculum planning, it may be decided that Life Skills outcomes and content are the most appropriate option for some students with intellectual disability.
Working scientifically
In this focus area, students develop skills in using scientific tools and instruments safely, and communicating scientific information. Additional Working scientifically outcomes and skills may be integrated with this content.

Recognise ways to observe the detail of plants and animals
Engage with tools and models to observe features of living things more closely
Describe the features of plants and animals through written texts, using language appropriate to purpose and audience
Recognise the features of a cell
Recognise scientific terms used when grouping animals with similar features
Classify a variety of living things according to their observable features
Explore ways in which Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples classify plants or animals
Use tables, diagrams or symbols to communicate the classifications of living things
Communicate how classification is used in everyday life
