The new Science 7–10 Syllabus (2023) is to be implemented from 2026.

2026 – Start teaching new syllabus
School sectors are responsible for implementing syllabuses and are best placed to provide schools with specific guidance and information on implementation given their understanding of their individual contexts.

Life Skills

asks questions or makes predictions using observations
Through collaborative curriculum planning, it may be decided that Life Skills outcomes and content are the most appropriate option for some students with intellectual disability.
Working scientifically
In this focus area, students develop skills in making observations, and asking questions or making predictions. Additional Working scientifically outcomes and skills may be integrated with this content.

Predict what will happen when frictional force is reduced or increased
Investigate how technological developments have reduced the harmful impact of forces in everyday life
Identify and use a variety of information sources to investigate how force is used in a simple machine to make it work
Participate in designing or creating a functioning model using knowledge of simple machines or forces
