English for K−2
The new syllabus must now be taught in Kindergarten to Year 2 in all NSW primary schools.
English for 3−10
The new syllabus is to be taught in Years 3 to 10 from 2024.
2024 – Start teaching the new syllabus
School sectors are responsible for implementing syllabuses and are best placed to provide schools with specific guidance and information on implementation given their understanding of their individual contexts.

Early Stage 1
- ENE-CWT-01
creates written texts that include at least 2 related ideas and correct simple sentences
Loading a Loading including at least 2 related ideas
Sequence ideas in a text
Include recognisable structural features for text Loading

Understand that punctuation is a feature of written language and how it impacts meaning
Use a capital letter to start a sentence and a Loading to end a sentence
Use capital letters when writing proper nouns
Use Loading and exclamation marks
Loading the purpose of a verb, a noun and an Loading in own writing
Intentionally select nouns, verbs, adjectives and articles in own writing
Use personal vocabulary, words on display and in Loading when constructing sentences
Identify differences between spoken and written language
Identify different purposes for writing
Use drawing, images or mind maps to support planning and writing
Understand they can improve their writing based on feedback from teachers
Edit their texts after receiving feedback
