K–10English K–10 Syllabus (2022)
The new English K–10 Syllabus (2022) is to be implemented from 2024 and replaces the English K–10 Syllabus (2012).
School sectors are responsible for implementing syllabuses and are best placed to provide schools with specific guidance and information on implementation given their understanding of their individual contexts.

Early Stage 1
- ENE-PHOAW-01
identifies, blends, segments and manipulates phonological units in spoken words as a strategy for reading and creating texts
Repeat words and Loading
Complete familiar spoken phrases in Loading , including chants, Loading , songs and poems
Loading a spoken Loading of 3 to 5 words into separate spoken words
Orally Loading and segment Loading in words comprising up to 3 syllables
Blend Loading and Loading to say a one-syllable word
Provide a word when given a starting Loading
Consistently say the first phoneme of a spoken one-syllable word
Listen to up to 4 words, indicate those that start with the same phoneme and say other words that start with that phoneme
Orally blend up to 4 phonemes together to make a one-syllable spoken word
Orally segment one-syllable words comprised of up to 4 phonemes into separate phonemes
Loading the number of phonemes that make up a spoken one-syllable word comprising fewer than 4 phonemes
Identify the first, middle and final phonemes in a one-syllable word
Identify the difference between a voiced phoneme and an unvoiced phoneme
Blend aloud all phonemes when asked to delete, add or substitute an initial phoneme
Blend aloud all phonemes when asked to delete, add or substitute a final phoneme
Blend aloud all phonemes when asked to substitute a medial Loading phoneme
