English for K−2
The new syllabus must now be taught in Kindergarten to Year 2 in all NSW primary schools.
English for 3−10
The new syllabus is to be taught in Years 3 to 10 from 2024.
2024 – Start teaching the new syllabus
School sectors are responsible for implementing syllabuses and are best placed to provide schools with specific guidance and information on implementation given their understanding of their individual contexts.

Early Stage 1
- ENE-SPELL-01
applies phonological, orthographic and morphological generalisations and strategies to spell taught familiar and high-frequency words when creating texts
Combine phonological, phonic, orthographic and morphemic knowledge to spell taught high-frequency irregular words comprising up to 3 Loading
Loading single-Loading words into phonemes as a strategy for spelling
Segment Loading into syllables and phonemes as a strategy for spelling
Spell their own name
Know that the Loading zz, ss, ll, ff and ck do not usually start a word in Loading
Know that words do not usually end with the letter v, and that ve is commonly used
Experiment with some Loading and Loading to spell taught Loading and/or personally significant words
Add the plural-marking Loading (s) to base Loading that require no change when suffixed
Experiment with the Loading -marking suffixes to spell familiar base Loading
Spell high-frequency compound words and Loading comprising taught Loading
