Early Stage 1

Spelling
Integrated spelling components
  • Combine phonological, phonic, orthographic and morphemic knowledge to spell taught high-frequency irregular words comprising up to 3 Loading 

Phonological component
  • Loading  single-Loading  words into phonemes as a strategy for spelling

  • Segment Loading  into syllables and phonemes as a strategy for spelling

Orthographic component
  • Spell their own name

  • Know that the Loading  zz, ss, ll, ff and ck do not usually start a word in Loading 

  • Know that words do not usually end with the letter v, and that ve is commonly used

  • Experiment with some Loading  and Loading  to spell taught Loading  and/or personally significant words

Morphological component
  • Add the plural-marking Loading  (s) to base Loading  that require no change when suffixed

  • Experiment with the Loading -marking suffixes to spell familiar base Loading 

  • Spell high-frequency compound words and Loading  comprising taught Loading
