The new Communication Technology 7–10 Syllabus (2025) is to be implemented from 2028 and will replace the Graphics Technology 7–10 Syllabus (2019).
2026 and 2027 – Plan and prepare to teach the new syllabus
2028 – Start teaching the new syllabus
School sectors are responsible for implementing syllabuses and are best placed to provide schools with specific guidance and information on implementation given their understanding of their individual contexts. Schools may choose to implement the new syllabus during the planning and preparation phase.
Content
Life Skills
Through collaborative curriculum planning, it may be decided that Life Skills outcomes and content are the most appropriate option for some students with intellectual disability.
The multimedia project provides students with the opportunity to explore, communicate and apply their ideas or skills to design and produce a multimedia product or solution. The project can be undertaken individually or as a collaborative group project. Students may undertake a whole project, part of a project or elements of the multimedia project content as appropriate.
Projects could be drawn from any field of Multimedia, including the following specialisations:
- animation and visual effects
- audio and visual production and sound design
- game design and development
- interactive media and user experience (UX) or user interface (UI) design
- multimedia programming (authoring)
- other school-developed option.
Use design principles to plan a multimedia project
Identify the purpose of the project
Identify the target audience for the project
Recognise audience needs when designing multimedia
Respond to target audience needs when designing the project
Recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural works in multimedia
Communicate design ideas for the project
Participate in developing mock-ups or prototypes to test design choices
Collect a range of data, including numerical data, to test if a design idea meets its intended purpose
Modify a multimedia project based on user feedback
Use production techniques to produce multimedia elements
Use digital tools to create or modify multimedia elements
Demonstrate safe work practices during project development
Use the correct file format to prepare, produce or present a multimedia production
Use collaborative practices when producing or presenting
Test the functionality of solutions or products using a set of criteria
Create an oral, visual, written or multimodal text to communicate information and ideas about the project
