Life Skills for Stage 4/5

Through collaborative curriculum planning, it may be decided that Life Skills outcomes and content are the most appropriate option for some students with intellectual disability.

Communication Technology – Multimedia principles and project management

This focus area outlines communication technology concepts relevant to all other focus areas. They are to be integrated with the content of the selected course undertaken (Graphics or Multimedia). The knowledge, understanding and skills outlined are integral to the development of multimedia projects.

Principles and practices
  • Explore how multimedia is used to communicate in everyday life

  • Explore ways multimedia is used to improve access and participation in everyday contexts

  • Investigate the importance of clear, accurate and respectful communication in multimedia contexts

  • Identify data security and privacy practices in multimedia contexts

  • Recognise the creator or owner of multimedia works

  • Recognise and demonstrate Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property (ICIP) protocols when producing and presenting multimedia works

  • Recognise ethical responsibilities when using artificial intelligence (AI) tools to represent Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and Cultural Expressions

  • Identify work health and safety (WHS) requirements when working with digital and physical production tools

  • Demonstrate safe work practices when using digital and physical production tools

  • Explore responsible and sustainable practices in multimedia contexts

  • Explore the environmental impacts of physical and digital media production

  • Explore drawing standards used in multimedia industries

  • Identify a range of drawing standards

  • Identify design principles used in multimedia

  • Communicate principles and practices used in multimedia through oral, visual, written or multimodal texts

  • Create an oral, visual, written or multimodal text to communicate about design processes or solutions

Applications in industry
  • Recognise personal preferences or strengths in communication technology contexts

  • Demonstrate work and enterprise skills when planning and managing projects

  • Explore new and emerging technologies used in multimedia industries

  • Locate opportunities in the local community to design or produce multimedia

  • Participate in community activities involving designing or producing multimedia
