Life Skills for Stage 4/5

Through collaborative curriculum planning, it may be decided that Life Skills outcomes and content are the most appropriate option for some students with intellectual disability.

Communication Technology – Graphics principles and project management

This focus area outlines communication technology concepts relevant to all other focus areas. They are to be integrated with the content of the selected course undertaken (Graphics or Multimedia). The knowledge, understanding and skills outlined are integral to the development of graphics projects.

Principles and practices
  • Explore how graphics are used to communicate in everyday life

  • Explore ways graphics are used to improve access and participation in everyday contexts

  • Investigate the importance of clear, accurate and respectful communication in graphics contexts

  • Identify data security and privacy practices in graphics contexts

  • Recognise the creator or owner of graphic works

  • Recognise and demonstrate Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property (ICIP) protocols when producing and presenting graphics works

  • Recognise ethical responsibilities when using artificial intelligence (AI) tools to represent Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and Cultural Expressions

  • Identify work health and safety (WHS) requirements when working with digital and physical production tools

  • Demonstrate safe work practices when using digital and physical production tools

  • Explore responsible and sustainable practices in graphics contexts

  • Explore the environmental impacts of physical and digital media production

  • Explore drawing standards used in graphics industries

  • Identify a range of drawing standards

  • Identify design principles used in graphics

  • Communicate principles and practices used in graphics through oral, visual, written or multimodal texts
