The new Communication Technology 7–10 Syllabus (2025) is to be implemented from 2028 and will replace the Graphics Technology 7–10 Syllabus (2019).
2026 and 2027 – Plan and prepare to teach the new syllabus
2028 – Start teaching the new syllabus
School sectors are responsible for implementing syllabuses and are best placed to provide schools with specific guidance and information on implementation given their understanding of their individual contexts. Schools may choose to implement the new syllabus during the planning and preparation phase.

Life Skills
Through collaborative curriculum planning, it may be decided that Life Skills outcomes and content are the most appropriate option for some students with intellectual disability.

Recognise how Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Storytelling is conveyed in animation

Identify ways technology is used in animation
Use technology to experiment with animation

Engage with animation techniques
Identify how augmented reality (AR) or virtual reality (VR) devices show animations
Identify ways motion capture and rigging are used to produce animation
Identify ways artificial intelligence (AI) is used in the planning of animations
Judge the usefulness of AI in the planning of animations
Describe the fair use of AI in the planning of animations
Create user instructions using oral, visual, written or multimodal texts
Use storyboard techniques to design or plan an animation
Experiment with animation software
Select and use audio, sound effects or text in animations
Test the timings of an animation
Create backgrounds or objects using computer-aided design (CAD) or animation software
Modify or apply textures to rendered animations
Use cinematography techniques when producing animations
Create visual or sensory effects using simulation tools
Produce or present an animation using oral, visual, written or multimodal texts
Test the alignment of an animation to the plan
Test the functionality of an animation, including timing, pace and consistency in visual design
