Content
Life Skills
Through collaborative curriculum planning, it may be decided that Life Skills outcomes and content are the most appropriate option for some students with intellectual disability.
Through the school-developed option, schools are provided with the opportunity to develop students’ knowledge, understanding and skills related to a particular area of interest or a current issue, and to design and develop strategies for effective learning.
The school-developed option should focus on a particular area that is not studied through focus areas.
The following content points may be considered:
Key aspects of the growth, development or care of children, including children from diverse backgrounds and with diverse needs
Support services and resources
Consideration of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander histories and Cultures
Strategies to promote the growth, development or care of children through safe practices
