K–10Classical Languages K–10 Syllabus
The new Classical Languages K–10 Syllabus (2022) is to be implemented from 2024.
2024 – Start teaching new syllabus for:
- Schools with a K–6 language program
- Mandatory 100 hours of a Language in Years 7–10
Students who commenced a 100-hour or 200-hour elective course in 2023 may continue to study that course in 2024.
School sectors are responsible for implementing syllabuses and are best placed to provide schools with specific guidance and information on implementation given their understanding of their individual contexts.
Content
Stage 3
- CL3-ICU-01
identifies connections between contemporary and target languages, culture(s) and identity
Describe cultural practices and beliefs of the target language culture
Identify vocabulary and phrases in target language texts which relate to cultural practices and beliefs
Reflect on how identity is expressed by languages, cultural practices and beliefs
Describe and reflect on similarities and differences between the target language and English
