K–10Classical Languages K–10 Syllabus
The new Classical Languages K–10 Syllabus (2022) is to be implemented from 2024.
2024 – Start teaching new syllabus for:
- Schools with a K–6 language program
- Mandatory 100 hours of a Language in Years 7–10
Students who commenced a 100-hour or 200-hour elective course in 2023 may continue to study that course in 2024.
School sectors are responsible for implementing syllabuses and are best placed to provide schools with specific guidance and information on implementation given their understanding of their individual contexts.
Content
Early Stage 1
- CLE-ICU-01
identifies people and places of the past represented in the target language
Recognise that there were people, places and languages in the past
Recognise significant personalities from stories of the target language culture and recall their role
Recognise that there are cultures and languages similar to or different from their own
Notice that the people who spoke the target language told stories about people and the places they lived in
