Life Skills

Life Skills for Stage 4/5

Through collaborative curriculum planning, it may be decided that Life Skills outcomes and content are the most appropriate option for some students with intellectual disability.

Creating texts in Auslan

Content is provided for:

  • Additional: students learning Auslan as an additional language
  • Prior learning/experience: students learning Auslan with knowledge and/or experience from in or outside the classroom
  • First: students learning Auslan as their first language.
Vocabulary, grammar and text structures
Additional
  • Identify words that are represented by common depicting handshapes

  • Explore features and structures of text

Prior
  • Respond to and use elements of Auslan grammar

  • Describe handshapes or signs that represent a word in English

First
  • Use nouns, adjectives and verbs in Auslan

  • Explore linguistic structures of Auslan

Creating texts to communicate

  • Engage in simple exchanges
