K–10Aboriginal Languages K–10 Syllabus
The new Aboriginal Languages K–10 (2022) syllabus is to be implemented from 2024.
2024 – Start teaching new syllabus for:
- Schools with a K–6 program
- Mandatory 100 hours of a Language in Years 7–10
Students who commenced the 100-hour or 200-hour elective course in 2023 may continue to study the Aboriginal Languages K–10 Syllabus (2003) in 2024.
School sectors are responsible for implementing syllabuses and are best placed to provide schools with specific guidance and information on implementation given their understanding of their individual contexts.
Content
Stage 3
- AL3-RES-01
identifies and responds to information in texts
Content is provided for:
- Additional: Language Revival – students learning the target language as an additional language
- Prior: Language Revival – students with significant prior learning and/or experience in the target language
- First: students continuing to learn their First Language as the target language.
Obtain and process information from a range of texts
Obtain and process information from a range of spoken, written and/or visual texts
Obtain, organise and compare information from a range of sources
Respond to texts in the target language and/or English using a range of formats
Respond to ideas and information from texts in the target language and/or in English, using a range of formats for specific audiences
Respond to information from texts about specific topics using a range of formats
