K–10Aboriginal Languages K–10 Syllabus
The new Aboriginal Languages K–10 (2022) syllabus is to be taught from 2024.
2023 Plan and prepare to teach the new syllabus
2024 Start teaching new syllabus for:
- Schools with a K–6 program
- Mandatory 100 hours of a Language in Years 7–10
Students who commenced the 100-hour or 200-hour elective course in 2023 may continue to study the Aboriginal Languages K–10 Syllabus (2003) in 2024.
Content
Stage 1
- AL1-INT-01
uses modelled target language to share information in familiar contexts
Content is provided for:
- Additional: Language Revival – students learning the target language as an additional language
- Prior: Language Revival – students with significant prior learning and/or experience in the target language
- First: students continuing to learn their First Language as the target language.
Interact with peers, teachers, tutors, Aboriginal Elders or Community members to exchange greetings and information
Interact with peers, teachers, tutors, Aboriginal Elders or Community members to exchange personal information
Interact with peers, teachers, tutors, Aboriginal Elders or Community members to share information
Participate in classroom routines and activities
Participate in classroom routines and activities by responding to questions, following instructions and asking for permission
Participate in tasks and activities that involve instructions
