K–10Aboriginal Languages K–10 Syllabus
The new Aboriginal Languages K–10 (2022) syllabus is to be implemented from 2024.
2024 – Start teaching new syllabus for:
- Schools with a K–6 program
- Mandatory 100 hours of a Language in Years 7–10
Students who commenced the 100-hour or 200-hour elective course in 2023 may continue to study the Aboriginal Languages K–10 Syllabus (2003) in 2024.
School sectors are responsible for implementing syllabuses and are best placed to provide schools with specific guidance and information on implementation given their understanding of their individual contexts.
Content
Stage 2
- AL2-RES-01
locates and responds to key words and information in texts
Content is provided for:
- Additional: Language Revival – students learning the target language as an additional language
- Prior: Language Revival – students with significant prior learning and/or experience in the target language
- First: students continuing to learn their First Language as the target language.
Locate and organise specific information from texts
Locate and organise information from spoken, written and/or visual texts
Locate and organise information from a range of spoken, written and/or visual texts
Respond to texts in the target language and/or English using a range of supports
Respond to texts in the target language and/or English, using spoken, written and/or visual modes
Respond in the target language and/or English to a range of texts, using spoken, written and/or visual modes
