develops understanding and fluency in mathematics through exploring and connecting mathematical concepts, choosing and applying mathematical techniques to solve problems, and communicating their thinking and reasoning coherently and clearly
- MST-12-S2-07
applies critical path analysis to solve problems and model decision-making in practical contexts
Construct a network diagram from a precedence table or equivalent, including those involving dummy activities, limited to 10 activities
Explain the term critical path
Apply forward and backward scanning to determine the earliest starting time (EST) and latest starting time (LST) for each activity in a project
Calculate float times to identify critical and non-critical activities
Analyse ESTs and LSTs to locate the critical path(s) for the project
Apply critical path analysis to determine the minimum completion time for a project
Construct a Gantt chart to represent a project from a network diagram indicating the critical path
Examine the impact of increasing or reducing the duration of an activity on the completion time of the project or task being modelled
Use a spreadsheet to model a project involving precedence tables and solve related problems
