K–10Mathematics K–10 Syllabus (2022)
The new Mathematics K–10 Syllabus (2022) is to be implemented from 2024 and replaces the Mathematics K–10 Syllabus (2012).
School sectors are responsible for implementing syllabuses and are best placed to provide schools with specific guidance and information on implementation given their understanding of their individual contexts.
Content
Stage 3
- MAO-WM-01
develops understanding and fluency in mathematics through exploring and connecting mathematical concepts, choosing and applying mathematical techniques to solve problems, and communicating their thinking and reasoning coherently and clearly
- MA3-NSM-01
selects and uses the appropriate unit and device to measure the masses of objects
- MA3-NSM-02
measures and compares duration, using 12- and 24-hour time and am and pm notation
Identify the appropriate unit and device to measure Loading
Recognise situations where mass would be measured in thousands of kilograms or tonnes (t)
Recognise the Loading of whole-number and Loading representations of measurements of mass
Interpret decimal notation for masses
Measure mass using scales and record using decimal notation of up to 3 decimal places
Recognise that 24-hour time is used to avoid confusion between am and pm
Read time using appropriate 24-hour time language
Convert between 24-hour time and 12-hour time using am or pm notation
Read, interpret and use timetables from real-life situations, involving 12- and 24-hour time
