K–10Mathematics K–10 Syllabus
The new Mathematics K–10 Syllabus (2022) is to be implemented from 2024 and replaces the Mathematics K–10 Syllabus (2012).
School sectors are responsible for implementing syllabuses and are best placed to provide schools with specific guidance and information on implementation given their understanding of their individual contexts.
Content
Early Stage 1
- MAO-WM-01
develops understanding and fluency in mathematics through exploring and connecting mathematical concepts, choosing and applying mathematical techniques to solve problems, and communicating their thinking and reasoning coherently and clearly
- MAE-FG-01
recognises, describes and continues repeating patterns
- MAE-FG-02
forms equal groups by sharing and counting collections of objects
- MAO-WM-01

Copy and continue repeating Loading using sounds and/or actions
Copy, continue and create repeating patterns using Loading , Loading , images or pictures (Reasons about patterns)
Distribute a group of familiar objects into smaller groups and recognise whether the number in each group is equal or not
Group and share concrete materials by distributing objects one by one or using another method
Label the number of objects in a group
Record grouping and sharing using drawings, words and numerals, and explain their thinking (Reasons about relations)
