7–10Visual and Motion Design 7–10 Syllabus (2025)
The new Visual and Motion Design 7–10 Syllabus (2025) is to be implemented from 2028 and will replace the Visual Design 7–10 Syllabus (2004).
2026 and 2027 – Plan and prepare to teach the new syllabus
2028 – Start teaching the new syllabus
School sectors are responsible for implementing syllabuses and are best placed to provide schools with specific guidance and information on implementation given their understanding of their individual contexts. Schools may choose to implement the new syllabus during the planning and preparation phase.

Through collaborative curriculum planning, it may be decided that Life Skills outcomes and content are the most appropriate option for some students with intellectual disability.
Identify the structural form and functionality of a design artwork
Identify how design elements are used in a design artwork
Recognise how visual and/or multisensory signs and symbols are used in a design artwork
Recognise the signs and symbols used by Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander designers to communicate ideas
Use personal experiences to respond to a design artwork
Recognise emotion, personal experiences, imagination or memories in design artworks
Recognise the lived experiences and Storytelling in design artworks by Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander designers
Respond to a design artwork using own cultural experiences
Explore ethical considerations when responding to design artworks
Recognise personal, social or cultural experiences communicated in design artworks
Recognise ways Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander designers represent Cultural and social perspectives of local Community(ies)
Recognise that design artworks raise awareness about ideas, social interests or concerns to challenge audiences
