Life Skills for Stage 4/5

Through collaborative curriculum planning, it may be decided that Life Skills outcomes and content are the most appropriate option for some students with intellectual disability.

Designing and making: Viewpoints
Structural
  • Explore how design elements can be used to represent ideas in design artworks

  • Explore how visual and/or multisensory signs and symbols can represent ideas in design artworks

  • Explore the relationship between structural form and function in design artworks

  • Make a design artwork using signs or symbols to communicate ideas

Subjective
  • Identify a personal emotion, experience or memory for a design artwork

  • Explore ways to create sensory or emotional responses when designing

  • Make a design artwork that represents a personal, sensory or imagined experience

Cultural
  • Identify a cultural, community or social interest or experience in a design artwork

  • Explore design artworks that share social and cultural experiences and use this as inspiration in own design practice

  • Make a design artwork that respectfully represents social or cultural interests or experiences

Contemporary
  • Identify a social interest or concern that is personally significant in a design artwork

  • Explore innovative forms, technology or materials that allow audiences to interact with design artworks in new ways

  • Use innovative forms, technology or materials in own design artworks

  • Make a design artwork that questions or raises awareness about contemporary ideas
