7–10Visual and Motion Design 7–10 Syllabus (2025)
The new Visual and Motion Design 7–10 Syllabus (2025) is to be implemented from 2028 and will replace the Visual Design 7–10 Syllabus (2004).
2026 and 2027 – Plan and prepare to teach the new syllabus
2028 – Start teaching the new syllabus
School sectors are responsible for implementing syllabuses and are best placed to provide schools with specific guidance and information on implementation given their understanding of their individual contexts. Schools may choose to implement the new syllabus during the planning and preparation phase.

Through collaborative curriculum planning, it may be decided that Life Skills outcomes and content are the most appropriate option for some students with intellectual disability.
Recognise what design practitioners do and where they work

Identify how designers consider the function of design artworks to guide design choices
Explore how designers balance structural form, functionality, aesthetics and user needs in the creation of a design artworks
Recognise the practice of a designer or groups of designers
Identify ways Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Peoples’ visual Storytelling and design preserves Cultures and shares Knowledges across generations
Communicate a personal preference for design artworks, designers or styles
Explore the purpose of branding in design to inform, persuade or engage audiences
Explore how a curator selects, organises and/or displays design artworks for the purpose of engaging an audience
Consider how a designer or curator creates an inclusive and accessible experience for audiences
Express ideas using subject-specific vocabulary
Express an opinion about a design artwork or an exhibition

Identify advancements in historical or contemporary technology that have influenced design
