Life Skills for Stage 4/5

Through collaborative curriculum planning, it may be decided that Life Skills outcomes and content are the most appropriate option for some students with intellectual disability.

Creating texts
Creating spoken, written and multimodal texts in the target language
  • Participate in the creation of texts using known words or phrases

  • Create texts using modelled language and/or images

  • Create texts to convey information, experiences or opinions

Applying knowledge of language systems to create texts in the target language
  • Use sounds and expressions of the target language when creating spoken texts

  • Identify vocabulary, grammatical structures and/or text features of the target language

  • Create texts using text features appropriate to the target language

  • Explore forming script, characters or symbols in the target language

  • Follow a scaffold to create a text using the target language writing system

Applying knowledge of the target language culture(s) to create texts
  • Use images, signs or symbols to create texts that demonstrate an understanding of culture

  • Create texts by selecting and/or using modelled language appropriate to cultural practices
