Through collaborative curriculum planning, it may be decided that Life Skills outcomes and content are the most appropriate option for some students with intellectual disability.
Interacting in a language is primarily done through oral language. Where students use other forms of communication to supplement or replace speech, the content should be taught using the student’s preferred communication form(s).
Respond to interactions using modelled language or expressions
Use modelled language to communicate information about themselves
Accept, reject or make requests in familiar interactions
Communicate preferences in regular classroom routines
