Critical and historical studies: Artworld concepts
Photomedia artist
  • Investigate and interpret the roles and work of photomedia artists in different times, places and contexts

  • Interpret how and why photomedia artists’ choices inform their representation of ideas and intentions in their photomedia artworks

  • Respond to the significance and contribution of photographers, film makers and digital media artists in different cultures and contexts, including Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander artists

Photomedia artworks
  • Investigate and analyse how the photograph, film and digital image can hold multiple meanings depending on context, events, style, authorship, presentation and audience interaction

  • Identify key ideas, genres, narratives, events and times related to photomedia artworks

  • Analyse how photomedia artworks shape an audience’s perception of reality, memory and meaning

  • Respond to representations of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Cultural Expressions, identity and connections to Country and/or Place in photomedia artworks

World
  • Interpret how the world is a source of ideas, inspiration and interests for photomedia artists

  • Explain and justify how and why photomedia artists represent the world through constructed images that reflect their time and place

Audience
  • Investigate the roles and functions of audiences in different times, places and contexts

  • Explain how audience perceptions are shaped by media saturation, digital manipulation and innovative technologies

  • Examine how technological advancements have influenced the way people create, consume, share, access and engage with photomedia artworks
