The new Photography, Film and Digital Media 7–10 Syllabus (2025) is to be implemented from 2028. The Photographic and Digital Media 7–10 Syllabus (2004) will not be available after December 2029.
2026 and 2027 – Plan and prepare to teach the new syllabus
2028 – Start teaching the new syllabus
School sectors are responsible for implementing syllabuses and are best placed to provide schools with specific guidance and information on implementation given their understanding of their individual contexts. Schools may choose to implement the new syllabus during the planning and preparation phase.

in Stage 4 teachers may adjust the Stage 5 outcomes as appropriate to the needs of students in Years 7 and 8
Adopt the role of the Loading to make photomedia artworks that represent points of view about the world
Examine how photomedia artists represent ideas and interests to inform choices in own photomedia artworks
Make and refine photomedia artworks with an understanding of how Loading Loading and Loading shape meaning
Examine the photograph, film and digital image as constructed representations that shape how the audience views, remembers and understands the world
Investigate how artistic choices in Loading , visual style, framing and editing contribute to the concept, narrative and representation of photomedia artworks
Make and refine photomedia artworks using a range of forms, techniques and processes to represent Loading , choices and actions
Investigate the world as a source of inspiration, ideas and subject matter to represent meaning in photomedia artworks
Make and refine photomedia artworks, selecting subject matter, genres and ideas to represent personal, symbolic, cultural and critical meanings
Investigate how audiences interact with photomedia artworks through exhibitions, screenings, advertising, marketing, reproduction and Loading displays
