The new Photography, Film and Digital Media 7–10 Syllabus (2025) is to be implemented from 2028. The Photographic and Digital Media 7–10 Syllabus (2004) will not be available after December 2029.
2026 and 2027 – Plan and prepare to teach the new syllabus
2028 – Start teaching the new syllabus
School sectors are responsible for implementing syllabuses and are best placed to provide schools with specific guidance and information on implementation given their understanding of their individual contexts. Schools may choose to implement the new syllabus during the planning and preparation phase.

in Stage 4 teachers may adjust the Stage 5 outcomes as appropriate to the needs of students in Years 7 and 8
Investigate the history of, and advancements in, technology and Loading and how they have contributed to the evolution of the camera, photograph and film
Research and explain the value and significance of photomedia practices, conventions and procedures that are informed by different times, places and Loading using different viewpoints
Explain how the Loading Loading , choice of Loading and technical decisions shape the meaning and impact of a photomedia artwork
Investigate how editing, manipulation and digital enhancements represent or misrepresent reality and authenticity in photomedia artworks
Examine how photomedia artists use storytelling techniques, such as narrative structures, sequencing and Loading Loading , to convey meaning and engage the Loading
Examine critical and historical accounts to understand how different viewpoints are used to interpret the significance of photomedia artworks
Investigate and apply the ways critics and historians construct and represent arguments about photomedia artists and their photomedia artworks
