The new Personal Development, Health and Physical Education 7–10 Syllabus (2024) is to be implemented from 2027 and will replace the Personal Development, Health and Physical Education K–10 Syllabus (2018).
2025 and 2026 – Plan and prepare to teach the new syllabus
2027 – Start teaching the new syllabus
School sectors are responsible for implementing syllabuses and are best placed to provide schools with specific guidance and information on implementation given their understanding of their individual contexts. Schools may choose to implement the new syllabus during the planning and preparation phase.
Content
Life Skills
Through collaborative curriculum planning, it may be decided that Life Skills outcomes and content are the most appropriate option for some students with intellectual disability.

- Identify personal relationships 
- Recognise rights and responsibilities in relationships 
- Identify changes in relationships that occur during adolescence 
- Identify feelings and actions associated with intimacy 
- Recognise factors that can influence relationships 
- Identify the values and characteristics of a respectful relationship 
- Identify the role of respect within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultures and across a range of cultures 
- Recognise how respectful relationships influence self-esteem, self-confidence and self-management 
- Demonstrate strategies to safely begin, manage and end relationships 
- Recognise when bullying occurs 
- Recognise discrimination towards groups or people based on culture, disability, age, religion, sexuality and gender, and strategies to empower people to overcome challenges 
- Rehearse protective and inclusive strategies that enhance respectful relationships 
- Recognise types of abuse and strategies that can challenge the abuse of power in relationships 
- Recognise positive use of power in relationships 
- Identify and communicate personal boundaries and values
