Year 12 – Standard 2

Trigonometry
  • Apply Loading  to right-angled triangles to find either the lengths of unknown sides or the size of unknown Loading  in both Loading , and degrees and Loading 

  • Apply the sine rule asinA=bsinB=csinC  in a given triangle ABC to find the value of an unknown side
  • Apply the sine rule sinAa=sinB b=sinCc  in a given triangle ABC to find the value of an unknown angle, excluding the ambiguous case
  • Apply the sine rule in a given triangle to find the value of an unknown angle, given that the unknown angle is Loading 

  • Apply the cosine rule c2=a2+b2-2abcosC in a given triangle ABC to find the value of an unknown side
  • Apply the cosine rule cosC=a2 + b2 - c22ab  in a given triangle ABC to find the value of an unknown angle
  • Apply the formula A=12absinC, where and b  are the sides that form the included angle C in a given triangle ABC, to solve problems in a range of contexts
  • Identify and interpret Loading  and Loading  and convert between them

  • Construct and interpret compass Loading  and solve related problems

  • Solve practical problems involving Loading , the trigonometry of right-angled and non-right-angled triangles, Loading  and Loading , and true bearings and compass bearings
