The new Mathematics Standard 11–12 Syllabus (2024) is to be implemented from 2026 and will replace the Mathematics Standard Stage 6 Syllabus (2017).
2026, Term 1
- Start teaching the new syllabus for Year 11
- Start implementing the new Year 11 school-based assessment requirements
- Continue to teach the Mathematics Standard Stage 6 Syllabus (2017) for Year 12
2026, Term 4
- Start teaching the new syllabus for Year 12
- Start implementing the new Year 12 school-based assessment requirements
2027
- First HSC examination for the new syllabus
Content
Year 12 – Standard 1
- MAO-WM-01
develops understanding and fluency in mathematics through exploring and connecting mathematical concepts, choosing and applying mathematical techniques to solve problems, and communicating their thinking and reasoning coherently and clearly
- MST-12-S1-01
represents and interprets the relationships between quantities in algebraic and graphical forms
Graph two Loading using a table of values or a graphing application and identify the Loading
Solve a pair of simultaneous linear equations by finding the point of intersection of their graphs, with and without graphing applications
Determine and interpret the point of intersection of two Loading graphs in a variety of practical contexts
Use Loading to model and analyse the Loading of a problem where Loading and Loading are represented by linear equations
Identify the break-even point and solve problems involving Loading and Loading by using a spreadsheet to model the problem
Construct a linear or exponential graph using a table of values or graphing application to make predictions in practical contexts
Represent the description of a real-world situation graphically
Identify the strengths and limitations of linear and Loading in given practical contexts
