7–10Work Education 7–10 Syllabus (2025)
The new Work Education 7–10 Syllabus (2025) is to be implemented from 2028 and will replace the Work Education 7–10 Syllabus (2019).
2026 and 2027 – Plan and prepare to teach the new syllabus
2028 – Start teaching the new syllabus
School sectors are responsible for implementing syllabuses and are best placed to provide schools with specific guidance and information on implementation given their understanding of their individual contexts. Schools may choose to implement the new syllabus during the planning and preparation phase.

Teachers select options from:
- Preparing for the workplace
- Workplace environments and culture
- Exploring post-school pathways
- Enterprise and entrepreneurial behaviours
- Managing income from work
- Connecting with the community
- School-developed option.
The role of an enterprise
The types of enterprises, including startups and social enterprises
The reasons for establishing an enterprise
Legal and regulatory considerations in the operation of an enterprise
The characteristics and features of successful and unsuccessful enterprises
The characteristics and benefits of an entrepreneurial mindset
The relationship between an entrepreneurial mindset and entrepreneurial behaviours
The types of entrepreneurial behaviours that could make an enterprise successful, including goal-setting and the effective use of technology
The nature of innovation and its importance to the future of Australia
The role of entrepreneurial behaviours in initiating and achieving innovative solutions to problems in the workplace and in the community
The use of risk management strategies to help entrepreneurs achieve their goals
The ethical responsibilities and practices of entrepreneurs, including respecting the intellectual property rights of others
The positive impact of entrepreneurial behaviours on individuals, workplaces and communities
Investigation of young entrepreneurs, including young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander entrepreneurs
The role of sufficient financing in achieving entrepreneurial success
The sources of finance, including crowdfunding, debt finance and government grants
The importance of financial planning skills, including creating budgets and conducting a cost–benefit analysis
The application of financial planning skills relevant to a hypothetical enterprise
Examine and practise entrepreneurial skills in hypothetical and real-world work situations
Investigate a current issue in relation to enterprise and entrepreneurial behaviours using subject-specific terminology in written, oral, visual or multimodal form
Create written texts to explain and analyse aspects of enterprise and entrepreneurial behaviours
