The new Work Education 7–10 Syllabus (2025) is to be implemented from 2028 and will replace the Work Education 7–10 Syllabus (2019).
2026 and 2027 – Plan and prepare to teach the new syllabus
2028 – Start teaching the new syllabus
School sectors are responsible for implementing syllabuses and are best placed to provide schools with specific guidance and information on implementation given their understanding of their individual contexts. Schools may choose to implement the new syllabus during the planning and preparation phase.

The rights of people with disability in the workplace
The terms and conditions of an employment contract
The purpose of a workplace code of conduct
The consequences of breaching an employment contract
Legal protection for employees from unfair dismissal
The organisations that inform and support employers and employees
The importance of understanding workplace rights and responsibilities for individuals to self-advocate and make informed decisions in the workplace
The characteristics of the international human right to safe working conditions
The legal and ethical requirements of workplace safety
Chemical, ergonomic, physical and psychological hazards in the workplace and the importance of risk assessments
The steps involved in conducting a risk assessment
Types of safety measures in the workplace, including the use of technology to improve safety
The features and importance of a proactive safety culture in the workplace, including the provision of education and training
The role of health and safety committees
Strategies to minimise workplace injury risks for workers, including young people and individuals from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
The implications and costs of unsafe work environments and practices
The purpose of workers compensation legislation
Evaluation of workplace safety legislation using workplace law cases
How a safe workplace affects career-related decisions and career satisfaction
The legal and ethical responsibilities and issues associated with technology use in the workplace
The importance of cybersecurity and cyber safety in the workplace
Practices to promote cybersecurity and cyber safety in the workplace

Examine and practise skills related to workplace rights, responsibilities and safety in hypothetical and real-world work situations
