2027 – Start teaching new syllabus
School sectors are responsible for implementing syllabuses and are best placed to provide schools with specific guidance and information on implementation given their understanding of their individual contexts.

Stage 5
Through collaborative curriculum planning, it may be decided that Life Skills outcomes and content are the most appropriate option for some students with intellectual disability.
Through historical inquiry, students deepen their understanding of history, make connections and construct narratives of the past.
The focus areas provide context for developing and applying these inquiry skills, which can be integrated with the content.
Choose a specific historical event, person, period or topic of interest
Select or pose a question about the historical event, person, period or topic of interest
Safely access sources and locate information in the sources to answer the historical question
Consider the author and purpose of a source to determine the trustworthiness of information
Organise information from relevant sources using scaffolds such as visuals, timelines or graphic organisers to support the communication of historical information
Use historical terms and concepts when communicating information from relevant sources used in historical inquiry
Communicate findings and ideas from a historical inquiry using preferred communication form(s)
Reflect on the processes of historical inquiry as a way to examine the past
