The new Geography 7–10 Syllabus (2024) is to be implemented from 2027.
2025 and 2026 – Plan and prepare to teach the new syllabus
2027 – Start teaching new syllabus
School sectors are responsible for implementing syllabuses and are best placed to provide schools with specific guidance and information on implementation given their understanding of their individual contexts.
Content
Life Skills
Through collaborative curriculum planning, it may be decided that Life Skills outcomes and content are the most appropriate option for some students with intellectual disability.
Geographical inquiry skills content is to be integrated throughout the course where appropriate.
Identify an issue
Ask or develop geographical questions
Participate in a geographical investigation
Collect geographical data
Locate geographical data and information
Record geographical information
Recognise data and information for its usefulness
Record data and information using geographical tools as appropriate
Use geographical tools to interpret data and information to identify patterns and trends
Represent conclusions or ideas
Communicate geographical information using appropriate communication forms and technologies
Respond to geographical issues or challenges by displaying active citizenship skills
Create oral, visual, written or multimodal texts for different purposes, audiences and contexts using relevant communication forms and technologies
