Geographical concepts are to be integrated throughout the course where appropriate.

Place
  • Characteristics of places

  • Special significance of place for people

  • Factors influencing people’s perceptions of places

  • Effect of global trade, transportation networks and technologies on places across the world

Space
  • Significance of location and spatial distribution

  • Ways in which people organise and manage the spaces where they live

Environment
  • Processes that change landscapes and landforms across the world

  • Aesthetic, cultural, spiritual and economic value of environments

  • Effects of human activities on natural and human environments

Interconnection
  • Importance of interconnection between people, places and environments

  • How the liveability of places for people is affected by environmental factors, including landscapes, climate and natural hazards

  • How people affect the environment

Scale
  • Management of geographical challenges across a range of scales, from local to global

  • Responses and actions undertaken by governments, organisations, individuals and communities operating at local and global scales

Sustainability
