The new Aboriginal Studies 7–10 Syllabus (2024) is to be implemented from 2027.

2027 – Start teaching the new syllabus
School sectors are responsible for implementing syllabuses and are best placed to provide schools with specific guidance and information on implementation given their understanding of their individual contexts.

- Aboriginal Peoples and the visual arts
- Aboriginal Peoples and the performing arts
- Aboriginal Peoples and the media
- Aboriginal Peoples interaction with legal and political systems
- Aboriginal Peoples and film and television
- Aboriginal Peoples and technologies
- Aboriginal Peoples and sport
- School-developed option.
A range of media and the roles and target audiences of each, including print, broadcast and digital
Roles and responsibilities of the media in influencing social attitudes, values and public policy
Ways in which the media constructs representations of Aboriginal Peoples
Changes over time in media representations of Aboriginal Peoples and Cultural images
Impact of media protocols on the representation of Aboriginal Peoples
Impact of print, broadcast and digital media on a range of non-Aboriginal people’s perceptions of Aboriginal Peoples, Cultures and contemporary issues, including experiences of racism and discrimination
Different forms of advertisements depicting a range of representations of Aboriginal Peoples and Cultures
Representations of Aboriginal Peoples and Cultures in various forms of advertisements, and their influence on societal perceptions of Aboriginal Peoples over time
Emergence of media that is owned and/or controlled by Aboriginal Peoples and Torres Strait Islander Peoples
Impact of Aboriginal Peoples' involvement in mainstream media on Aboriginal Peoples' and non-Aboriginal people’s perceptions
