The new Aboriginal Studies 7–10 Syllabus (2024) is to be implemented from 2027.
2025 and 2026 – Plan and prepare to teach the new syllabus
2027 – Start teaching the new syllabus
School sectors are responsible for implementing syllabuses and are best placed to provide schools with specific guidance and information on implementation given their understanding of their individual contexts.

The importance and interrelationship of Country/Place and spiritual identity to Aboriginal Peoples and Torres Strait Islander Peoples
Awareness of the range of expressions of spiritual identities through Cultural activities, including Dreaming stories and Legends of the Torres Strait
Key features and roles of Kinship structures in contemporary Aboriginal Cultures and Communities
Key features of family structures in Torres Strait Islander Cultures
Significance of factors that contribute to diversity within Aboriginal family structures today
Ways in which Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples celebrate, express and maintain Culture
Factors that influence Cultural expressions and interpretations in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Communities, including contemporary influences
The significance of roles and contributions of Aboriginal Peoples' Cultural expressions in an international context
How social factors and experiences have affected Aboriginal identities in post-invasion Australian society
The effect of social factors and experiences in the development of Aboriginal identity in post-invasion Australian society
The impact of media portrayals of Aboriginality on Aboriginal Peoples and non-Aboriginal people
Adaptations of Aboriginal Peoples' Cultural expressions in contemporary contexts
The impact of the misappropriation of Aboriginal Peoples' Cultural expressions
