The new Aboriginal Studies 7–10 Syllabus (2024) is to be implemented from 2027 and will replace the Aboriginal Studies 7–10 Syllabus (2020).
2025 and 2026 – Plan and prepare to teach the new syllabus
2027 – Start teaching the new syllabus
School sectors are responsible for implementing syllabuses and are best placed to provide schools with specific guidance and information on implementation given their understanding of their individual contexts. Schools may choose to implement the new syllabus during the planning and preparation phase.

Reasons for the establishment of early Aboriginal Community organisations
Roles of current Aboriginal Community organisations in furthering the progress of self-determination and autonomy for Aboriginal Peoples
Reasons for the establishment of Aboriginal enterprises
Types and diversity of Aboriginal enterprises locally, regionally, nationally and internationally
Impact of Aboriginal enterprises and organisations (including not-for-profit organisations) on Aboriginal Peoples' employment and progress towards economic independence
Advantages of Aboriginal-controlled organisations and enterprises locally, regionally, nationally and internationally
Explore the activities of an Aboriginal organisation or enterprise
Communicate ideas about the activities of an Aboriginal organisation or enterprise
Create written texts to describe, explain, document and evaluate the role of an Aboriginal organisation, enterprise and/or individual in advocating for self-determination and autonomy
Use subject-specific terminology to communicate concepts of Aboriginal enterprises and organisations
Apply ethical research skills, including consultation protocols, to work effectively with Aboriginal Peoples and Communities
Demonstrate understanding of ethical responsibilities surrounding Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property (ICIP)
