The new Visual Arts 7–10 Syllabus (2024) is to be implemented from 2027.
2025 and 2026 – Plan and prepare to teach the new syllabus
2027 – Start teaching new syllabus
School sectors are responsible for implementing syllabuses and are best placed to provide schools with specific guidance and information on implementation given their understanding of their individual contexts.
Content
Life Skills
- VALS-AMC-01
engages with Artworld concepts when making or exhibiting artworks
Through collaborative curriculum planning, it may be decided that Life Skills outcomes and content are the most appropriate option for some students with intellectual disability.
Engage in art making experiences
Explore personal experiences, ideas and interests as inspiration for art making
Explore how to use materials, techniques and/or processes to communicate ideas
Represent ideas in artworks
Use materials and techniques, in a range of 2D, 3D and/or 4D art forms
Recognise how artworks communicate to audiences in art making
Recognise the world as a source of ideas in art making
Make artworks that communicate ideas or experiences of the world
Consider how audiences interact with artworks
Make and/or display artworks to communicate with an audience
