The new Dance Life Skills 11–12 Syllabus (2025) is to be implemented from 2027 and will replace the Dance Life Skills Stage 6 Syllabus (2009).

2027, Term 1
- Start teaching the new syllabus for Year 11
- Continue to teach the Dance Life Skills Stage 6 Syllabus (2009) for Year 12
2027, Term 4
- Start teaching the new syllabus for Year 12
Content
Life Skills
Through collaborative curriculum planning, it may be decided that Life Skills outcomes and content are the most appropriate option for some students with intellectual disability.
In Choreography: Dance work, students explore how the components of choreography are used by a practitioner in their body of work and use this as a stimulus to individually or collaboratively choreograph a dance work. Students use stimulus, idea, intent, elements of dance, auditory elements, abstract symbolic movement and structure to choreograph a dance work.
Choose a preferred practitioner or body of work
Draw inspiration from the selected practitioner or body of work when participating in choreographing a dance work
Identify the idea, intent, genre and/or style of the dance work
Demonstrate safety considerations when participating in choreographing a dance work
Demonstrate cultural considerations when participating in choreographing a dance work
Identify movements that may be suitable for a dance work
Select symbolic movements that can be used to communicate an idea in a dance work
Use auditory elements to communicate an idea or intent in a dance work
Structure an original dance work to communicate an idea or intent
Create a dance work using the elements of dance and phrases of movement to communicate an idea or intent
Reflect on and refine the dance work
