The new Dance Life Skills 11–12 Syllabus (2025) is to be implemented from 2027 and will replace the Dance Life Skills Stage 6 Syllabus (2009).

- Start teaching the new syllabus for Year 11
- Continue to teach the Dance Life Skills Stage 6 Syllabus (2009) for Year 12
2027, Term 4
- Start teaching the new syllabus for Year 12
Content
Life Skills
Through collaborative curriculum planning, it may be decided that Life Skills outcomes and content are the most appropriate option for some students with intellectual disability.
In Appreciation: Dance work, students engage with the components of appreciation to explore one or more selected dance works. Students use stimulus, idea, intent, elements of dance, auditory elements, abstract symbolic movement, structure, dancers and theatrical elements to make informed judgements.
Explore the ideas communicated in a dance work
Identify the genre, style and theme of a dance work
Explore the cultural, social or personal context for a dance work
Respond to aspects of a dance work, including its auditory elements, dancers, elements of dance, or theatrical elements
Identify one or more of the elements of dance used in a dance work
Identify auditory elements of a dance work and how they have been used to communicate an idea
Communicate ideas in relation to the movement of the dancers in a dance work
Recognise the structure of a dance work and how it communicates an idea or intent
Identify theatrical elements and their purpose in a dance work
Express an opinion, preference or interpretation in response to a dance work
