The new Dance Life Skills 11–12 Syllabus (2025) is to be implemented from 2027 and will replace the Dance Life Skills Stage 6 Syllabus (2009).

- Start teaching the new syllabus for Year 11
- Continue to teach the Dance Life Skills Stage 6 Syllabus (2009) for Year 12
2027, Term 4
- Start teaching the new syllabus for Year 12
Content
Life Skills
Through collaborative curriculum planning, it may be decided that Life Skills outcomes and content are the most appropriate option for some students with intellectual disability.
In Appreciation, students respond to dance works, making judgements about their meaning and purpose in artistic, cultural, social and personal contexts. Students use the language of dance appreciation and demonstrate protocols and appropriate etiquette as a viewer of dance works. Students recognise the choreographer’s use of the dancer(s), the elements of dance and the organisation of the movement in a dance work to communicate an idea or intent.
Engage with dance works for a range of purposes
Demonstrate protocols and appropriate etiquette when engaging with live or online performances
Explore ways Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Peoples express Culture and stories through dance
Explore ideas that choreographers convey in dance works
Explore how personal context influences the appreciation of dance
Identify factors that shape the ideas choreographers convey in dance works
Investigate how to access live dance works in the community
Recognise and use the language of dance appreciation
Recognise that choreographers select performers for specific purposes
Identify that choreographers make movement choices to communicate an idea or intent
Explore how dancers share stories and Cultural Knowledges in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander dance works
