Life Skills

Life Skills for Stage 6

Through collaborative curriculum planning, it may be decided that Life Skills outcomes and content are the most appropriate option for some students with intellectual disability.

Performance: Dance work

In Performance: Dance work, students apply performance knowledge and skills to a solo or group dance work, drawing on the components of performance. Students demonstrate dance technique, kinaesthetic awareness, elements of dance, auditory elements, structure and interpretation.

Context
  • Choose a preferred dance genre or style

  • Identify the context and/or interpretation for a dance work

  • Demonstrate safety considerations when participating in performing a dance work

  • Demonstrate cultural considerations when participating in performing a dance work

Components of performance
  • Train and prepare the body for performance

  • Perform using the elements of dance

  • Respond to different auditory elements when performing

  • Demonstrate increasingly complex combinations of body skills relative to anatomical structure

  • Participate in performing a structured dance work
