Life Skills for Stage 4/5

Through collaborative curriculum planning, it may be decided that Life Skills outcomes and content are the most appropriate option for some students with intellectual disability.

Performance
Context
  • Class protocols and responsibilities to establish a safe creative space

  • The role of the performer to interpret and communicate ideas through movement

  • The language of dance performance

  • Dances have performance protocols, including those from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultures

  • Develop awareness of personal space in the context of dance

  • Manage personal space in the context of dance

  • Participate in dance for different purposes

  • Participate in school or community dance experiences as an audience member or part of the performance

The dancing body
  • Demonstrate safe dance practice relative to the individual performer

  • Prepare and safeguard the body for movement, including warm-up and cool-down

  • Engage in healthy practices to maintain a body safe for dance

  • Demonstrate how the body can move and express ideas through performance

  • Train the body using aspects of dance technique

  • Record and reflect on individual progress

  • Explore supplementary methods of training
