Life Skills

Life Skills for Stage 4/5

Through collaborative curriculum planning, it may be decided that Life Skills outcomes and content are the most appropriate option for some students with intellectual disability.

School-identified industry

The school-identified industry could include the study of any other industry identified as appropriate to a school context, or student needs, or interests, including:

  • additive and subtractive manufacturing
  • automotive industry
  • farm or rural technologies
  • watercraft industry
  • other relevant industry
Materials and resources
  • Identify sustainable materials used in everyday products

  • Explore the uses of a range of everyday materials

  • Explore the use of existing or innovative materials by Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Peoples

  • Explore how raw, recycled or repurposed materials are converted to usable forms

  • Explore ethical considerations when sourcing materials

  • Identify the properties of a range of possible materials for a specialised industry project

  • Select a material for a component or product based on its properties

  • Identify methods to modify the properties of materials

  • Prepare materials for making a component or product

  • Identify materials and resources needed to make a component or product

  • Select appropriate methods to make a component or product
