Life Skills for Stage 4/5

Through collaborative curriculum planning, it may be decided that Life Skills outcomes and content are the most appropriate option for some students with intellectual disability.

Food selection for nutrition and health
Nutritional value of foods
  • Recognise the body uses energy from food to function

  • Identify sources of nutrients

  • Identify nutrients in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples’ customary foods

  • Identify the functions of different nutrients

  • Explore the role of the digestive system

  • Identify foods that are high in dietary fibre

  • Identify how dietary fibre keeps the body healthy

  • Recognise that nutritional needs change during each stage of life

  • Explore why nutritional needs may change over time

  • Participate in generating ideas or solutions to promote nutritious foods to individuals or groups of people
